Get to Know Your TeacherI am a Raleigh native & a true southern girl! My immediate family members are also in Raleigh & I love having them so close. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education as well as a minor in Spanish. I studied abroad in Puebla, Mexico in college & speak fluent Spanish. I also graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2013 with a Master’s degree in K-12 Literacy. I taught kindergarten at Knightdale Elementary for 5 years & was honored to be the 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year at KES. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher! I am happy to be a part of the Sycamore Creek family! I taught 1st grade at SCES for 3 years and I'm excited to join the kindergarten team this year! I love teaching early elementary grades because the students are so excited about learning. I am a lifelong learner & I encourage my students to do the same. I am most passionate about teaching reading! In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, shopping, trying new restaurants, spending time with my family, & creating calligraphy projects for my Etsy shop. My husband, Brian, and I got married in April 2017 and enjoyed a 2.5 week honeymoon in France/Italy! We have a precious mini goldendoodle puppy named Callie & absolutely love spoiling her! She is a certified therapy doggy & enjoys reading with children at the public library, taking naps, and getting belly rubs. :) I look forward to working together with you to help your child have a fun & successful year!
